This is the list we hang in our kitchen next to our evening chore chart. It has been a valuable tool in creating peaceful family dinners. The kids enjoy identifying what number they are practicing. “Mom, I just did rule number 5!”

4. Ask for food to be passed (please and thank you)

5. Take turns talking

6. Don’t play with your placemat, silverware, or food

7. Don’t complain

8. Try everything on your plate

9. Ask to be excused

10. Clear your spot

11. Wash your hands and face

12. Thank the cook
